As mentioned yesterday I am visiting friends this weekend in Midsomer Norton.
We went on a little exhibition today in search of a good place to film
but apart from balancing on a tree stump for a bit nothing really caught
my eye.
(I my go find that stump again at some point)
So in preparation for our wander to The Batch tomorrow I have started a little sequence that I hope to expand upon.
Filmed in my hosts back garden which provided most of our lunch today :)
After revisiting an idea that started at Dartington yesterday; I decided I'd have a go at doing another one.
During our 'Site Specific' module in our first year myself, Sarah Farrow and Kirsty Ghent worked for a while on a staircase. We had always meant to revisit this so I thought I'd start.
I am hoping that Kirsty and Sarah will be up for continuing this idea online!
FYI these are not my stairs. I am visiting friends in Midsomer Norton this weekend so I'll hopefully find some great locations :)
The other day the lovely Hannah Hawkey reminded me of an idea we had back at Dartington, along with Sarah Farrow;
A Sock Dance.
We discussed various ideas but unfortunately didn't get round to it; all that uni work!
Well I've started.
I'm hoping that this can still be a collaboration even if we are miles apart. So dig out those stripy socks ladies and send me some footage and feedback :)
Music is Avratz by Infected Mushroom (for this one anyway).
Today myself and my fellow 365er's went on an adventure to find some nature in the middle of Bristol. We spent four hours walking, climbing and stopping for photos, dancing and creating art.
Music = Monday by Ludovico Einaudi
You can see the boats and landscape created today by visiting Luna and Taz's blogs.
See you tomorrow :) Most likely from a tunnel I found the other day!
Just a short clip today of some of the arm lines I've been working on ready for my adventure with Taz and Luna tomorrow.
We are heading out tomorrow somewhere green to do something for each of our 365 projects.
Music = Monday by Ludovico Einaudi, which whenever Luna plays I end up dancing to so this my play a part in tomorrows adventure but you'll have to check out tomorrows blogs to see what we get up to.
Click to see Luna and Taz's blogs, see you tomorrow :)
I have discovered another benefit of this project today. I usually find that when I have an idea I store it away for another day rather than getting on with something straight away. Today's idea when from inception to actualization in about 20 minutes and that included; sewing up a hole in the tights, getting sidetracked by a conversation on Roald Dahl books and cuddles from the cat as well as trying out some of the movement material and the filming itself.
A spontaneous retro dance party happened in our kitchen today. I couldn't resist filming but everything was very exciting so the framing isn't great. But we had fun :)
Today has been a long day so I wanted to treat myself, and what better way than to get dressed up and dance around the kitchen!
I did play around with the lighting quite a bit and the bike lights came out to play again. Although I finally got this effect by hanging an orange vest in front of a lamp.
So as you can tell from the title; today I went to the beach. Weston-Super-Mare in England to be precise with Luna and Justin. We spend a couple of hours building a giant sand boat which you can see on Luna's blog.
I love dancing on sand. It responds in a very different way to wood or grass and sometimes it's quite unpredictable. I also enjoyed splashing about in the water today as it was a bit of a scorcher.
So I found myself today going back to the bike light poi from yesterday. I decided to use my head torch which is a dual light along with another front light. Once I had done the usual import and trim to the clip I started playing around with the effects. I'm afraid I couldn't help myself when it came to the negative setting!
I have added normal video below so you can see where it came from, that and I like both :)
I realized today that this project is really starting to improve my creativity. After running through a couple of ideas and really not feeling any of them I suddenly had a spark of inspiration after having a discussion about bike lights with my housemates.
I have been meaning to do some work with bike lights as hand held poi for some time. This is an idea that came about while working with a fire troupe in Devon about three years ago and spending a lot of time working with poi and palm torches.
The music today is Elevation by Infected Mushroom.
We have been hard at it for the last 24 hours setting up for the Easton Arts Trail this weekend. We are displaying work by Moon and Magic and also work, pictures and videos from all three of our 365 projects.
Couldn't contain my excitement so just had to dance while Luna was making herself prettier in the corner; to music by Yann Tiersen.
A very rainy day in Bristol today so rather than let the rain deter me; I borrowed a monster costume from my lovely friend Luna and crept out into the garden.
I'm very pleased to have made it to double figures, hopefully there will be more milestones to come.
Monster costume by Moon and Magic, check out all of their beautiful creations here, or come down and see us at the Easton Arts Trail this weekend.
Thank you to Luna and Taz for standing in the rain and filming :)
Well I had a bit of a nostalgia day today; watching a video of something I did when I was sixteen that my dance teacher recently sent me and then having a rummage in my dance shoe draw (Yes I have a whole draw dedicated to dance shoes!) I found an old pair of pointe shoes which i gave up turning into soft pointe shoes as they just wouldn't break anymore.
I have had some nice comments about day three so thought I'd have another go at a 'feet only' video.
Today has been very dance focused. College class this morning and then three ballet classes this afternoon. Here is the ISTD Ballet Intermediate Variation.
Since my exam is five weeks away it's great to see this so that I can work the parts that
So here we go. After watching Luna and Taz create wonderful things for their 365 projects I'm going to join them on this creative adventure.
Dance is my thing so that's my theme. A degree in Choreography and studying to be a Ballet teacher put me in good sted to produce some interesting and hopefully beautiful dance works.
Today is a photo taken of me improvising out the front of my lovely new house. I am also off to a ballet class later as half term is over so I have six weeks to prepare for my intermediate exam; which is part of my teaching course and will be my first dance exam in 24 years so more on that to come :)
