Choreography 365: Day 90 - Lose the Hoodie

An impromptu trip to Midsomer Norton today which means I have to postpone my Gromit Hunt video until next weekend, so watch this space.

I hope this is a sufficient alternative :)

Choreography 365: Day 89 - Multi-Coloured Die

We had a lovely relaxing evening playing games so here is a short improvisation with the multi-coloured die from the game :)

Choreography 365: Day 88 - Lamp Post Duet

In honor it being day 88 today I treated myself to watching 'Back to the Future' again.

I had 'Earth Angel' in my head most of the walk home so it was playing in my head while dancing this tonight, but I like the sounds of my shoes on the pavement.

Choreography 365: Day 87 - Clothes Swap

Just had another play with cross-fades today in different clothes, but I am now convinced I need to sort my software situation out to really get the effect I want.

Music = Le Onde by Ludovico Einaudi

Choreography 365: Day 86 - Indoor Poi

A poi/dance mix took my fancy tonight.

Music = Chaplin by Infected Mushroom.

Choreography 365: Day 85 - Socks!

Finally here is the edited sock dance Luna and I did the other day.

Also apologies for failing at counting, today (Monday 26th August) is day 85!

Choreography 365: Day 84 - Socks: Ahhahhh!

Ok so here is just one of the 18 video clips from yesterday.  The editing is still in progress so I'm going to crack on with it fresh tomorrow.

Choreography 365: Day 83 - Sock Preparation

Today I have been filming the next installment of the Sock Dance with the lovely Luna.

There is a lot of footage which needs a bit more time in the editing suit to ensure it comes out like the pictures in my head.

See you tomorrow :)

Choreography 365: Day 82 - Grand Allegro

Grand Allegro (A routine, or enchainment, containing, but not exclusively, big or traveling jumps).

A ballet theme today but in a slightly contemporary form.

College starts again in a couple of weeks so there will be more ballet in the coming months.

Really looking forward to getting back to regular training and hopefully feeling a little more fluid in my movements.

Music = Melodia Africana Iii by Ludovico Einaudi

Choreography 365: Day 80 - Spinning Overlap

I really wanted to play more with spinning today and trying to get more of the overlap effect briefly shown in yesterdays video.

This is almost the effect I was going for but I am certain that I now need to invest in better editing software to be able to recreate the images in my head.

Music = Fly by Ludovico Einaudi

Choreography 365: Day 79 - Park time again!

Another outdoor adventure today; to the park.

We took my ribbon wand, poi, a staff and a hat; danced and then played on the swings.

(The hat was to play 'hat', which is like Frisbee but better!)

Definitely a good cure for a day stuck in the house doing housework, job hunting and paperwork!

Music = Rose by Ludovico Einaudi

Choreography 365: Day 78 - Escape to the Park

As promised I escaped the house today.

It's been a lovely few days (sorry week) of extended birthday celebrations and seeing lots of friends; now back to normality.

Mind you, saying that, I've got a week til I start my new job and go back to college.

I'm sure I'll find some interesting things to get up to in the mean time.

I should definitely start that big project this week :)

Music = Gravity by A Perfect Circle.

Choreography 365: Day 77 - Beirut in the Kitchen

I have been listening to a lot of Beirut today whilst cleaning and when friends came to visit so it seemed only right to dance to them today as well.

Music = Cliquot by Beirut

Looking forward to getting out on some adventures over the next few days now that we are in for another spell of good weather :)

Choreography 365: Day 76 - Kitchen Party

So last night some friend came round to celebrate my birthday, hence me posting today.

I found a small window of dancing opportunity while everyone was chatting about guitar hero etc.

My housemate Dave was in charge of the music at this time so I'm not sure who the track is by but I shall ask him when he emerges later.

I really liked it though so I got the camera out.

I'm a little out of shot but I had fun.

Now to rehydrate :)

Choreography 365: Day 75 - Ribbon Dance

Here, as promised yesterday, is a dance response to some fan art drawn by Luna Staple.

Music = Angelica by Lamb

Choreography 365: Day 74 - Planning

Something a bit different today; I have made a ribbon wand.

This is in preparation for a response to a beautiful piece of fan art, by Luna Staple, which I shall be working on tomorrow.

Luna has now finished her Boat a Day project and created this for me and our fellow
365er's Taz and Nat.  Please click the links to see their ongoing blogs :)

Choreography 365: Day 73 - I couldn't find an umbrella, but it stopped raining anyway.

When I started thinking about what to do for today's video it was pouring with rain so I went to find an umbrella.

I couldn't find one but by the time I realized this it had stopped anyway.  I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities to dance in the rain during the coming months.

I like the sound effects made by my shoes today and it has a similar vibe to day 24 - in the tunnel, especially considering my clothes, so I've played with the levels to make the red stand out against the grey-scale.

Choreography 365: Day 72 - Birthday Dance

A happy little dance to celebrate my birthday and news of new job :)

FYI - I was alone while filming this, the wind moved the camera at to end, or was it ghosts?

Music = Pistola by Incubus

Choreography 365: Day 71 - After Tai Chi

I went along to my first Tai Chi class in eight years this evening so today's choreography is inspired by the moves we were doing.

It was a little dark again when we got back so I had to play with the levels of brightness and saturation again but I like the blue and the aura around my arms and hands.

Choreography365: Day 70 - In the Long Grass

I think today was the first time I really felt drained when trying to think of something to do for this project. But help was at hand in the form of a crazy cat.

It seems daft I know but Rustle having a mad five minutes chasing invisible things in the long grass got me in the garden.  I saw how long the grass had got and had a dance. Lawn mower out tomorrow, but dancing tonight!

Choreography 365: Day 69 - Reflection

Choreographing yourself in a mirror is never going be exactly what the audience sees, due to the reflection.  So I thought I'd show you.

I'm looking forward to getting back to college to give this idea a big space to fill.

Music = The Motion Song by Rufus Wainwright.

Choreography 365: Day 68 - Bounce

It's so nice being back in Bristol and seeing some of my favorite people after being away for a couple of weeks.

Really great to see Luna again, the first time since she finished her 365 project on Boats, and to jump like crazies on her bed to System of a Down :)

Choreography 365: Day 67 - Street Lights

A long day of traveling today followed by a birthday outing means that I am dancing and posting quite late!

I had a lovely time on holiday visiting family but it feels so nice to be back in Bristol; so I'm dancing on my street again :)

Choreography 365: Day 66 - Location Change

After dancing in my Nan's garden for the last four days I thought I'd show you the front instead.

This puts me in mind of Day 1, which was only a picture, dancing on my street.

I like using the site to influence my movement, Site Specific it's called in the trade! Today I used the paths as marker points, I wonder if you can work out from the choreography which one is my Nan's?!

Traveling back to Bristol first thing tomorrow so not sure when and where I will be able to fit filming in, but that's half the fun. :)

Choreography 365: Day 65 - Something Different

And now for something a little bit different.

I wanted a change from the work I'd been doing to jazz over the last few days today and looking though my music I found a Talvin Singh album I hadn't listened to for a while.

I don't normally feel confident about doing street style choreography as I just watch it back and think I look daft doing it (that will be the ballet dancer in me).  I found that mixing it with some contemporary styling which I am comfortable with made me much more confident about dancing it and happier about the finished product.

Music = Bobby Style by Talvin Singh.

The track titles were not saved on my computer and I only found out the title once the dance was completed and I'd got to the library.  I find the comparison with some of the movement material quite comfortable.

The project as a whole is starting to feel quite real today considering that after today I will have 300 days to go.  My Nan thinks we are all crazy for setting ourselves this challenge.

I'll be back in Bristol on Thursday so I will be making an effort to start a quite involved project that's been on the cards for a while.  Luna and Genie (and anyone else who wants to that I haven't asked yet) get you dancing feet ready and sewing machines on standby :)

Choreography 365: Day 64 - Smooth Jazz in Purple

So I'm still on a bit of a jazz kick but a slower tempo today which affects the style of dance.

Music - New Orleans Function by
Louis Armstrong.

Nan's still enjoying the music and dance and is on the mend :)

Choreography 365: Day 63 - More Jazz; in Purple

More jazz today (Sunday) as I know that my nan is enjoying listening to it and I think she likes me dancing to it too.

I know that I am having fun dancing to it :)

Music = Basin Street Blues by Louis Armstrong

Choreography 365: Day 62 - Jazz in Yellow

So I tried to post this on Saturday but the library was closing.

But here's some jazz :)

Music = Panama by Louis Armstrong

Choreography 365: Day 61 - Clapping Games

I am now back from Germany but staying with my Nan for a few days to look after her after her accident while we were away.  She does not have any internet so I am quickly posting today's and yesterdays videos in the library.

This is yesterdays but was filmed today.  Daisy and I spent some time playing clapping games yesterday in between flights, private ambulances and pushing wheelchairs so i think it counts.

Choreography 365: Day 60 - More Shadow Play

As promised here is the work Daisy and I did with shadows yesterday at the Ostrale'013 Contemporary Art Exhibition.

The installation was by Takehito Koganezaw and called Gravity of Velocity.  It was a very inspiring atmosphere to be in as the visuals were on every wall.

Daisy enjoyed dancing in the space and hearing her humming echoing off of the walls.

If you look very closely you can make out shadow appearances by my uncle Steve, who took us to the exhibition, and my mum Nicole, who filmed.
