In honor it being day 88 today I treated myself to watching 'Back to the Future' again.
I had 'Earth Angel' in my head most of the walk home so it was playing in my head while dancing this tonight, but I like the sounds of my shoes on the pavement.
Just had another play with cross-fades today in different clothes, but I am now convinced I need to sort my software situation out to really get the effect I want.
I really wanted to play more with spinning today and trying to get more of the overlap effect briefly shown in yesterdays video.
This is almost the effect I was going for but I am certain that I now need to invest in better editing software to be able to recreate the images in my head.
When I started thinking about what to do for today's video it was pouring with rain so I went to find an umbrella.
I couldn't find one but by the time I realized this it had stopped anyway. I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities to dance in the rain during the coming months.
I like the sound effects made by my shoes today and it has a similar vibe to day 24 - in the tunnel, especially considering my clothes, so I've played with the levels to make the red stand out against the grey-scale.
I went along to my first Tai Chi class in eight years this evening so today's choreography is inspired by the moves we were doing.
It was a little dark again when we got back so I had to play with the levels of brightness and saturation again but I like the blue and the aura around my arms and hands.
I think today was the first time I really felt drained when trying to think of something to do for this project. But help was at hand in the form of a crazy cat.
It seems daft I know but Rustle having a mad five minutes chasing invisible things in the long grass got me in the garden. I saw how long the grass had got and had a dance. Lawn mower out tomorrow, but dancing tonight!
After dancing in my Nan's garden for the last four days I thought I'd show you the front instead.
This puts me in mind of Day 1, which was only a picture, dancing on my street.
I like using the site to influence my movement, Site Specific it's called in the trade! Today I used the paths as marker points, I wonder if you can work out from the choreography which one is my Nan's?!
Traveling back to Bristol first thing tomorrow so not sure when and where I will be able to fit filming in, but that's half the fun. :)
I wanted a change from the work I'd been doing to jazz over the last few days today and looking though my music I found a Talvin Singh album I hadn't listened to for a while.
I don't normally feel confident about doing street style choreography as I just watch it back and think I look daft doing it (that will be the ballet dancer in me). I found that mixing it with some contemporary styling which I am comfortable with made me much more confident about dancing it and happier about the finished product.
Music = Bobby Style by Talvin Singh.
The track titles were not saved on my computer and I only found out the title once the dance was completed and I'd got to the library. I find the comparison with some of the movement material quite comfortable.
The project as a whole is starting to feel quite real today considering that after today I will have 300 days to go. My Nan thinks we are all crazy for setting ourselves this challenge.
I'll be back in Bristol on Thursday so I will be making an effort to start a quite involved project that's been on the cards for a while. Luna and Genie (and anyone else who wants to that I haven't asked yet) get you dancing feet ready and sewing machines on standby :)
I am now back from Germany but staying with my Nan for a few days to look after her after her accident while we were away. She does not have any internet so I am quickly posting today's and yesterdays videos in the library.
This is yesterdays but was filmed today. Daisy and I spent some time playing clapping games yesterday in between flights, private ambulances and pushing wheelchairs so i think it counts.
As promised here is the work Daisy and I did with shadows yesterday at the Ostrale'013 Contemporary Art Exhibition.
The installation was by Takehito Koganezaw and called Gravity of Velocity. It was a very inspiring atmosphere to be in as the visuals were on every wall.
Daisy enjoyed dancing in the space and hearing her humming echoing off of the walls.
If you look very closely you can make out shadow appearances by my uncle Steve, who took us to the exhibition, and my mum Nicole, who filmed.
